Let the Training Begin

Life seems like it was just getting back to normal after the craziness of the holidays. With Hubby being a school teacher we had the whole family for almost 2 weeks. I have to admit I was really excited to get back to training classes. It was a great time! We learned a lot more about the process and and each persons responsibilities in the training process. I really like our training lady. She is great!

We did get some sad news though. Not really sad but disappointing. In all the books we have read the limit was 6 kids (biological and foster) in the home at once. We already have 2 and are trying for #3 so that seriously limits the number of kids we can help.  Well, we went to class tonight and she said that without an exception (like a sibling group) then they don't place more than 4 kids. I just couldn't believe it! So instead of only getting a few kids we are limited to 2 or 1 if we get lucky enough to have another biological.

Next week are going to be doing CPR which isn't that exciting but it is necessary. We did get some great news while we were there. I asked her how long after our training classes were over would we be open for kids. She said we would make an appointment to do our home study and after that it would be about a week for her to write it up. So I am pleased to announce that we should be fully certified and open for business the beginning of February!! I was shocked, amazed and completely terrified.

I know this is what we are supposed to do and we are getting great training and preparing our family. But at the same time I am terrified. I have so many worries about things we will mess up or problems we will have or kids we won't be able to help. I'm excited to get my first placement and terrified at the same time.
